Joel Klatt is a college football analyst and color commentator for Fox Sports. Joel Klatt was a member of the University of Colorado (CU) Buffaloes football team. Since Kordell Stewart (1992–94), he was Colorado’s first three-year starter as a quarterback. He also spent two seasons in the minor leagues of baseball.

Career and Professional Life

Early  career

Joel has always had a strong passion for baseball, even since he was a child. His father coached him, as previously said. He was a member of a 9-3 squad that won the Jefferson County league championship in his early years.

With a 6–5 record, 78–125 throws, 1,250 yards, and 16 touchdowns as a senior, he helped his squad achieve second-team all-state honors. He won first-team all-state honors as a shortstop in baseball during his senior year, and he also helped his team achieve the first runner-up spot in the state championships.

 He was drafted in the Major League Baseball Amateur Draft by the San Diego Padres in 2000. He also batted and led his team with 12 doubles. While playing for the Arizona League Padres, he hit 209 with one home run and 15 RBIs.

Later in his career, he transferred to the University of Colorado to play in the major leagues.

Career College

In 2004, he was named all-Big 12 and Colorado’s John Mack Award for the quarterback position. He sprained his shoulder during the game against Washington State, which forced him to miss two games.

After returning from injury, he set a record against Kansas, throwing for 419 yards and a 38–54 score. 

 Football Career

Joel was not selected in the 2006 NFL Draft, however, he did attend the Detroit Lions and New Orleans Saints mini camps. Fortunately, Joel signed a contract with New Orleans soon after the mini camps.

On June 2, 2006, he was released by the Saints after 11 days of signing contracts.

 Broadcasting Career

Joel Klatt began his broadcasting career in 2006 as an analyst for the FSN Rocky Mountain sports network on Friday night high school football games.

He also worked as a full-time studio commentator for Fox’s college football coverage for two years after joining the broadcast network. From 2007 through 2012, Klatt hosted a series of sports radio shows in the Denver region. He is also a guest pundit on several sports network stations.
