Currently, he resides in Louisville, Kentucky with his wife Debbie Scherer Wayne. Aside from his professional career, Wayne is also involved in extracurricular activities and has inspired many young politicians.
In addition, he is also a Psychotherapist and a writer and published his debut novel titled The Unfinished Man on May 9, 2016. Furthermore, he was the only mental health professional in the Kentucky State House.
Later, he decided to retire in 2019. Lisa Willner, the only current mental health professional in the Kentucky State House, now fills his former state congressional seat.
