“The Original Jill Scott from the Vault, Vol. 1.” a compilation album of Scott was released on the 30th of August 2011. Following that, she took a four-year break, and her fourth studio album titled “The Light of the Sun” was released. The album’s single “So in Love” debuted at number 43 on the US Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart.

Additionally, she signed a multi-tour deal with Live Nation to expand her concert touring. Her fifth album, “Woman” was released on the 24th of July 2015 and is the first album she has released on Atlantic Records.
This album debuted at the number one position on the Billboard 200 Albums Chart. Scoot and Erykah Badu came together for the first livestream battle between women on the 9th of May 2020.
It was a live stream for three hours, and the two friends live-streamed their hits as well as songs they had written for other artists. The battle was viewed by over 700,000 viewers including Michelle Obama, Spike Lee, Quincy Jones, and Janet Jackson.
As an actress
She debuts as an actress in the 2007 feature film, “Hounddog” portraying the role of Big Mama. The next year, she portrayed the role of Precious Ramotswe in Anthony Minghella’s film adaption of Alexander McCall Smith’s series of books “The No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency” (2008).
Similarly, she lent her voice to the character Storm of the X-Men on the BET series Black Panther. In the crime drama series “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” Scott guest-starred in an episode.

Additionally, she reprised the role of Sheila in the 2010 comedy-drama film “Why Did I Get Married Too?” She appeared in the Lifetime movie “Sins of the Mother” as Nona, an alcoholic mother confronted by her estranged daughter whom she neglected.
In May 2012, she appeared in the television music series “VH1 Storytellers.” Similarly, she appeared in “The Human Kind”, the eighth episode of the fifth season of Fringe. In the CW’s “Black Lightning ” she played a recurring role as villain Lady Eve.
