Jeongyeon is a South Korean singer, dancer, and model. Jeongyeon is a member of the girl group ‘Twice‘. And, she is well-known as the lead vocalist of the group.
Early Life and Childhood
Jeongyeon’s birth name is Yoo Kyung Wan. But, due to being teased as a child, for this sounding like a boy’s name, she legally changed her name to Jeong-Yeon when she was in 3rd grade. She was born on November 1, 1996, in Suwon, Gyeonggi Province, South Korea. She has two elder sisters named Gong Seungyeon and Seo Yeon. She is currently 27 years old.
Her sister Gong Seungyeon is a famous actress and Seo Yeon is an office worker. Similarly, her father Yoo Chang-Joon was a chef who worked for Kim Dae-Jung, a past president of South Korea. Moreover, she took aerobics classes at a young age and soon developed an early interest in singing and dancing. And, her mother works at a Japanese restaurant owned by her maternal aunt. Further, she has a dog, a Poodle named Nanan.

Career and Professional Life
She failed an audition to join JYP Entertainment when she was young. Then, she was a trainee after passing JYP Entertainment’s 6th Open Audition on 1st March 2010. Therefore, she was accepted into JYP and SM on the same day but chose JYP. Nonetheless, she was trained for 5 years before her debut with ‘Twice’.
From the year 2013 to early 2015, it was expected that she would become a member of a new JYP girl group alongside Twice members Nayeon, Sana, and Jihyo. But, the project was canceled and in the end, they did not debut. And, she made her breakthrough in 2015 as a contestant on the reality girl group survival show Sixteen and was finally chosen as a member of ‘Twice’.
In October 2015, ‘Twice’ officially debuted their first extended play ‘The Story Begins’. Likewise, the lead single “Like Ooh-Ahh” was the first K-pop breakthrough song to reach 100 million views on YouTube. Likewise, she and her sister co-hosted the South Korean music program Inkigayo from July 2016 to January 2017. For it, they both won the ‘Newcomer Award’ at the 2016 ‘SBS Entertainment Awards.’

She has also served as the songwriter for some of Twice’s tracks. Likewise, in Gallup Korea’s annual music poll, for four consecutive years from 2016 to 2019, she was voted among the top 20 most popular idols in South Korea, alongside her group member Nayeon. Also, she is ranked 66th on TC Candler’s “The 100 Most Beautiful Faces of 2018”.
Furthermore, she won the Female Rookie Award at the ‘2016 SAF SBS Entertainment Awards.’ JYP Entertainment announced on October 17, 2020, that she would be taking a break from activities due to issues related to anxiety. However, She made her comeback on January 31, 2021, at the ’30th Seoul Music Awards.’
Personal Life
She has a low-key life and is single. She has not yet revealed her past as well as present dating history. However, she might have dated earlier but hasn’t disclosed it to the public. She is currently focused on her career and is developing her skills for sure. She has mentioned her ideal type would be;
