Career and Professional Life
Jaya is a prominent Indian actress. Likewise, she made her debut in Satyajit Ray’s Bengali film, Mahanagar (1963) at the age of 15, with Anil Chatterjee and Madhabi Mukherjee. Later Hrishikesh cast her in the movie Guddi (1971).
She appeared in the role of a petite schoolgirl obsessed with film star Dharmendra. The movie Guddi went on to be a commercial success. This then created the girl-next-door image for her, which she was often associated with throughout the rest of her career.
