Authorities canvassed the area around the victim’s house and even conducted a thorough search of the area where her body was discovered, but they came up empty-handed. On top of that, law enforcement officers interviewed several of Reyes’s acquaintances, but most praised her friendliness and expressed surprise that she could be the target of such a heinous crime.

They examined the CCTV footage and saw how a masked man drove up in a car before using the young woman’s card to steal money from her account. When police officers approached the rental service in Queens. They discovered that the car had been rented by a man named Marco Padro. Marco, on the other hand, insisted that he was not involved in the murder and that he had provided the rental card to his friend Javier Da Silva Rojas. The car rental company also confirmed that Javier was the one who hired the car in person. The police believe he did on the evening of January 28, 2019, before driving to Valerie’s house hours later.
