Huey is a late American rapper and songwriter. Huey is best known for his debut single “Pop, Lock & Drop It” which eventually reached the No. 6 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Early Life

Born as Lawrence Franks Jr. better known by the stage name Huey was an American citizen. On the 12th of September 1987, he was born in Kinloch, Missouri, the United States.

At the age of 32 years, he died and had a zodiac sign of Virgo. He follows the Christian religion and belongs to the African-American ethnicity.

This American rapper was the youngest son of his four siblings. However, there is no information available regarding his parent’s or siblings’ names and their occupations.

Huey – Death

Huey and an unnamed 21-year-old male friend were shot in front of his Kinloch, Missouri, house on June 25, 2020. Both men were hospitalized, but he died the following day from his injuries at the age of 32.

There is little information available regarding the incident, including how it occurred and who murdered Huey. According to the Ferguson police investigation, no arrests were made in connection with the shooting, and the motive has not been revealed. In early 2006, he was seen by producer RJ Chapman, who subsequently introduced him to Vice President of A&R at Jive Records, Mickey “MeMepHitz” Wright. His debut album “Notebook” was released in mid-2007 and included Nelly, Chingy, and Ludacris.

In June 2020, the album charted at No.26 on the Hot 200 Billboard US, No.10 on Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums Billboard, and No.4 on Rap Albums Billboard. His biggest success to date was “Pop, Lock & Drop It,” which peaked at No. 6 on the Billboard Hot 100 and No. 2 on the Rap Songs Billboard and was certified 2x Platinum.

His second studio album, “Redemption,” was released on September 14, 2010. Regrettably, it was his final record released before his death on June 25, 2020. On June 15, 2010, he released his song “Smile and Wave” off that album, which featured Dorrough.

Moreover, he stated in 2013 that he had signed with Waka Flocka Flame’s label Brick Squad Monopoly and had begun production on his third album. He released his mixtape Project H with Brick in May 2014, however, it did not go well, and he has been largely silent in the music world for years.

His non-album singles in 2008 were “24/7-365” (with Maino and Glasses) and “Payow!” (featuring Juelz Santana and Bobby V). In 2020, he released “Pulled Away” as his non-album single. One of his music executives, William “Quayshaun” Carter, who worked with Huey in the 2010s, indicated that Huey began a clothing business and that it was going well.

Throughout his career, he has collaborated with several notable rappers, including T-Pain, Bow Wow, Dorrough, Lloyd, and Yo Gotti.
