Early Life

Hari Nef was born on the 21st of October 1992, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in the United States of America. According to her date of birth, she is 30 years old and holds American nationality. She made her film debut in the 2013 movie named “Hellaware.” However, her breakthrough role came out in 2015 as a recurring role of Gittel in the gender-bending TV series “Transparent.”

In the same year, she was featured in ‘The Black Soft’s’ new music video “Stay Away” and two short films named “Self Aware” and “Family Tree.” Her other short film appearances are “Crush” (2016), “A–Z of Hair” (2017), and “First Date” (2022).

In 2018, she made her recurring role as Blythe on the Lifetime psychological thriller television series “You.” That same year, she was cast as a major lead in Sam Levinson’s comedy thriller “Assassination Nation.”

Recent works and upcoming projects

She made her New York theater debut in the same year playing as a lead in Jeremy O. Harris’ “Daddy.” Later, she starred in the 2022 comedy film “1Up” alongside Ruby Rose, Paris Berelc, Taylor Zakhar Perez, and Nicholas Coombe. The same year, she appeared in Denis Johnson’s play, “Des Moines,” at the Polonsky Shakespeare Center in Brooklyn.

Moreover, she will be a star cast in the upcoming HBO drama series The Idol, Apple TV+drama series Extrapolations as well as Greta Gerwig’s upcoming film, Barbie. Similarly, she will perform in Thomas Bradshaw’s debut of his adaptation of Chekhov’s classic play, The Seagull, alongside Parker Posey, Patrick Foley, and Nat Wolff.

She has written profiles on various artists and cultural figures such as director John Waters, singer/actress Cristina Ortiz Rodriguez, Javier Calvo and Javier Ambrossi’s Spanish biographical series Veneno, and painter Nash Glynn.

Moreover, she regularly wrote sex advice and experience column for Sarah Nicole Prickett’s Adult magazine. As a writer, her writing has appeared in Artforum, Dazed, Vice, Original Plumbing, L’Officiel, and BlackBook.

She was on the cover of Frische Magazine in the year 2014. During the seam year, she was positioned at number 68 on Dazeds 100 lists. She was ranked number one overall in the Dazed Readers 100 and appeared in the i-D Pre-Fall Issue twice.

During the New York Fashion Week in the year 2015, she walked in the shows including Adam Selman, VFiles, Vejas, Degen, and Eckhaus Latta once more. The same year of May, she was signed to IMG Models, making her the first openly transgender model signed to that agency.
