Gus Trikonis is an American actor, dancer, screenwriter, and director who was active in the entertainment industry from 1961 to 2003. Gus Trikonis is best known for playing the role of Indio in the 1961 highly successful film “West Side Story.”

Gus Trikonis was born in Manhattan, New York City, New York, the United States, on November 21, 1937. His birth name is Kostas Tritchonis. Gus Trikonis started his career as an actor and dancer, notably appearing in the hugely successful 1961 film “West Side Story” as Indio.  The following year, he appeared dancing with Grover Dale and Debbie Reynolds in the 1964 film “The Unsinkable Molly Brown.” That same year, he starred as Pajame Boy #13 in the 1964 beach party film “Pajama Party.”

Some of his acting credits include “The Sand Pebbles” (1966) as Restorff, “The St. Valentine’s Day Massacre” as Rio (1967), and “The Hellcats” (1968) as Scorpio. However, he stopped acting and began his career as a director.

His directorial debut came in 1969, where, he directed the action film “Five the Hard Way/The Sidehackers.” In 1975, he directed the two films “Supercock” and “The Swinging Barmaids.” He then directed the films ‘”Nashville Girl” (1976), “Moonshine County Express” (1977), and “The Evil” (1978).

Meanwhile, he has also directed television such as “She’s Dressed to Kill” in 1979 and “Elvis and the Beauty Queen” In 1981.  The American director’s last two directional works were “Take This Job and Shove It” (1981) and “Dance of the Dwarfs” (1983).
