Gerardo Martino started his career in 1972 with Newell’s Old Boys. As he featured in Newell’s Old Boys senior team, Martino posted 35 goals in 392 appearances.
Till 1995, he played with the Newell’s and then moved to play for O’Higgins and Barcelona SC. Likewise, in the under-20 team, he played in the Argentina National Football team as a senior.
In 1998, he started his managing career for Brown de Arrecifes. He made one appearance for the Argentine senior national football team and two appearances for the Argentine U-20 team.
