Dustin Moskovitz is a billionaire internet entrepreneur from the United States. Dustin Moskovitz is known as the co-founder of  Facebook, Inc. (now known as Meta Platforms) with Mark Zuckerberg, Eduardo Saverin, Andrew McCollum, and Chris Hughes.

Early Life

Dustin Moskovitz was born in Gainesville, Florida, the United States, on May 22, 1984. He holds US nationality and his full name is Dustin Aaron Moskovitz.

According to the astrological chart, he has a birth sign of Gemini, and he is currently 39 years old as of 2023. In addition, he belongs to the Jewish ethnicity while his religious belief is unknown.

After dropping out of Harvard University in 2003, Dustin Moskovitz began his career at Facebook. In February 2004, he along with his roommates, Mark Zuckerberg, Eduardo Saverin, and Chris Hughes, and friend, Andrew McCollum began making plans for the launch of Facebook.

Facebook was created as an online database directory for Harvard students to use as a search engine for fellow users. Moreover, it was given the domain name thefacebook.com.

However, in June 2004, the team took a year break and relocated to California to focus on Facebook’s global development. Along with investor Sean Parker, they employed eight more staff. Dustin was Facebook’s lead programmer and technical department leader.

Dustin, according to Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, learned programming in just a couple of days and joined the company as a programmer.  For Facebook, Dustin was the first chief technology officer and then vice president of Engineering.

As he oversaw Facebook’s design and operations, he played a significant part in its growth. He held a 7.6% stake in Facebook. On October 3, 2008, he announced his departure from Facebook to co-found Asana, an online application.

Other works apart from Facebook

He and his partner, Justin Rosenstein, successfully co-founded Asana. Asana was successfully released out of Beta in 2011. It is a mobile web application that facilitates team cooperation on team projects without the usage of e-mail.

He is also recognized for investing in ‘Path,’ a mobile imagine-sharing company founded by David Morin, a former Facebook engineer. Moreover, Dustin’s counsel is claimed to have been crucial in convincing Morin to turn down a buyout offer from Google.

He also invested in Vicarious, an artificial intelligence company. Moreover, he and his wife, Cari Tuna, founded Good Ventures, a nonprofit organization. Good Ventures has contributed around $100 million to projects that help Malaria eradication, the Schistosomiasis Control Initiative, the Deworm the World Initiative, and GiveDirectly.

In addition, he and Cari became the youngest couple to sign the ‘Giving Pledge’ by Warren Buffet and Bill Gates, which pledges billionaires to donate a significant portion of their money to charity.

Moreover, he is working on a collaborative venture with GiveWell, which has resulted in a new spinoff. The Open Philanthropy Project aims to innovate a means to use vast quantities of money, beginning with Dustin’s riches, for the sake of society.

In 2011, he was reported as the youngest self-made billionaire in history by Forbes.

In October 2013, Dustin Moskovitz married Cari Tuna, co-founder of Good Ventures. Before their marriage, the pair dated for several years. There is no record of his offspring as of yet.

They are presently focusing their efforts on Good Ventures, the couple’s foundation, as well as the Open Philanthropy Project, a cooperation between Good Ventures and GiveWell.
