Dondre Whitfield is an American talented actor best known for film and television. Since 1985, Dondre Whitfield has been active in the entertainment industry and has received three Daytime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Younger Actor in a Drama Series nominations for his performance on “All My Children.”

Early Life

Dondre Whitfield was born on the 27th of May 1969, in Brooklyn, New York, the United States. His full name is Dondré Terrell Whitfield. He holds American nationality and belongs to British ethnicity. His birth sign is Gemini and is currently 54 years old.

Whitfield is a private person and like most celebrities, he prefers to keep his personal and family background out of media and public.

Moving forward to his academics, he attended at the Performing Arts High School in New York City.

Professional Career

Dondre Whitfield started his acting journey in 1985, playing the recurring role of Robert Foreman in the NBC sitcom “The Cosby Show.” He played the role of Leon Davis in an episode of the NBC sitcom “Diff’rent Strokes” in the year 1986. In 1988,  he made his big screen debut in the film called “Homeboy” playing the role of Billy Harrison.

He was cast as a series regular in the NBC daytime soap opera “Another World” where he played the role of Jesse Lawrence from 1989 to 1990. In 1989, he made his cameo appearance in “Homeboyz II: Crack City.”

He was then cast in the role of Terrence Frye in the ABC daytime soap opera “All My Children” and played the role from 1991 to 1994. After this, he landed another regular role as MacArthur ‘Mac’ Edwards in the short-lived Fox sitcom “The Crew.”

The actor  made guest appearances in the shows “3rd Rock from the Sun,” “The Jamie Foxx Show,” and “Martin.” Later, he was cast as a series regular in the Fox sitcom “Between Brothers” as James Gordon in 1997.

Continued successful career

He appeared in a total of eight episodes, playing the role of Curtis Cook in the Fox sitcom “Living in Captivity.” He played Davis in the UPN spy-fi thriller “Secret Agent Man.” The show was discontinued following its first season. That year, he appeared in the TV movies “Alien Fury: Countdown to Invasion” and “Happy Birthday.”

He appeared in four episodes of the NBC sitcom “Inside Schwartz” in 2001 playing the role of William Morris. As a series regular, he played the role of Sean Ellis in the UPN sitcom “Girlfriends.”

In 2001, he was cast in the romantic comedy film “Two Can Play That Game” playing the role of Dwain. From 2002 to 2003, he played Zack Timmerman along with Tamara Taylor in the short-lived NBC sitcom “Hidden Hills.”

Latter Career

He was cast in “Mr. 3000,” a 2004 sports comedy starring Bernie Mac and Angela Bassett. It was a unique undertaking for him since, as a former semi-professional baseball player, he relished playing a skillet in the film. In addition, he played professional baseball at the same time.

He has minor role appearances in films such as “The Salon” (2005), “35 and Ticking” (2011), and  “Middle of Nowhere” (2012). Moreover, he played the role of Mark in a total of three episodes of the ABC sitcom “Jake in Progress” in the year 2006.

He then starred as Mitch Marino in the CBS supernatural drama “Ghost Whisperer” and played the role from 2005 to 2006. From 2008 to 2010, he appeared in a brief recurring role of Jarrod Jones in the CBS police-procedural drama “Cold Case.”

He and his wife shared the screen in the 2009 film “Pastor Brown.” Moreover, he also made his cameo in an episode of the ‘SyFy’ comedy-drama “Eureka.” From 2010 to 2014, he did brief recurring roles in TV series such as “The Event,” “Make It or Break It,” and “Mistresses.”

Recent Works

In 2015, Whitfield appeared in the ‘BET’ comedy series ‘Real Husbands of Hollywood. He was cast in the recurring role of Remy Newell in the Oprah Winfrey Network drama series “Queen Sugar” from 2016 to 2019.

Apart from TV and movies, he has worked in Theater and stage credits include his performance as an expert burglar and shoplifter ‘Bobby Parker’ in the ‘Long Wharf Theatre’ production of ‘Ceremonies in Dark Old Men,’ in New Haven, Connecticut.

Meanwhile, his also a writer, and he published his first book “Male Vs. Man” on the 7th of April 202o  under the production house, Zondervan. Meanwhile, the book went on to become a best-selling on Amazon.

Till now, he has not won any awards but has been nominated for his acting works. He has been nominated for three Daytime Emmy Awards (1992, 1993, and 1994), two “Soap Opera Digest Awards” (1993. 1994), and “NAACP Image Awards” (2018).
