Early Life

Professional Career
Domenico Berardi began playing football for the youth team of Cosenza and played until 2010. In 2010, he joined the Sassuolo youth team and began his career there. At the age of 18, he made his senior debut for Sassuolo in Serie B against Cesena on August 27, 2012. In a 2-1 home win over Crotone on September 1, 2012, he scored his first professional goal.
During the 2012-13 season, he made 39 appearances for the club, scoring 11 goals and providing 6 assists in all competitions as Sassuolo won the Serie B title and was promoted to Serie A the following season.
He was named the 2013 Serie B Best Player after helping Sassuolo win the Serie B title and a historic promotion to Serie A, scoring 11 goals. On September 2, 2013, Juventus announced on their official website that he had joined the club on a co-ownership basis, with Luca Marrone moving in the opposite direction for a fee of €4.5 million. For the 2013-14 season, he stayed with Sassuolo on a season-long loan.
Serie A debut
He made his Serie A debut on September 25, 2013, at the age of 19, in a 1-1 away draw against Napoli. In a 3-1 loss to Parma on October 6, 2013, he scored his first Serie A goal from a penalty. He scored a hat-trick, including two penalties, in Sassuolo’s first-ever Serie A away win against Sampdoria on November 3, 2013.
Additionally, he scored all four goals in a 4-3 home win over Milan on January 12, 2014. In doing so, he became the second-youngest player in Serie A history and the first player to score four goals in a league match against Milan.
He made 33 appearances for the club in 2013-14, scoring 17 goals and providing 6 assists in all competitions as Sassuolo avoided relegation. On 20 June 2014, it was confirmed that he would remain at Sassuolo for another season, as the co-ownership agreement was also renewed.

Career since 2015
On June 25, 2015, an official statement announced that co-ownership had been resolved in favor of Sassuolo for €10 million. According to reports, it was part of Simone Zaza’s contract with Juventus. Juventus, on the other hand, has the option to bring him back to Turin in 2016.
He made 32 appearances for the club in 2015-16, scoring 8 goals and providing 8 assists in all competitions as Sassuolo finished sixth in the league, securing a spot in the third qualifying round of the 2016-17 UEFA Europa League.
In a 1-1 away draw against FC Luzern in the first leg of a third-round UEFA Europa League qualifying match on July 28, 2016, he made his debut and scored his first goal in European competitions. On the 4th of August, he scored twice in a 3-0 home win, advancing Sassuolo to the playoff round.
Berardi scored a goal and set up another in a 3-0 home win over Red Star Belgrade in the first leg of the Europa League play-offs on August 18. On the first day of the 2016-17 Serie A season, on August 21, 2016, he scored in a 1-0 away win over Palermo.
On August 25, he scored another goal in a 1-1 draw against Red Star Belgrade in the second leg of the Europa League play-offs, securing Sassuolo’s place in the season’s Europa League group stage.
At the age of 22 years and 27 days, he continued his goalscoring streak by scoring in a 2-1 home win over Pescara on August 28, becoming the youngest Italian player since 1994-95 to score 40 goals in Serie A and the second-youngest player overall, behind Alexandre Pato. Berardi scored the game-winning penalty in a 2-1 home victory over Belgium in the 2020-21 UEFA Nations League bronze medal match on 10 October.
