He was a standout player and earned All-American honors during his time there. In 1999, he was selected in the first round of the NBA Draft as the 23rd overall pick by the Los Angeles Lakers. Furthermore, he spent the majority of his NBA career with the Lakers, where he played from 1999 to 2006.
During his time with the Lakers, he became a key role player and won three consecutive NBA championships in 2000, 2001, and 2002. He was known for his defensive skills and ability to hit timely three-point shots.
He won 2 MIAC Player of the Year in 1998 and 1999. Likewise, he won 3 All-MIAC from 1997 to 1999. He suffered a right knee injury in a game against the Portland Trail Blazers on March 11, 2009.
