On the 7th of December 1976, Derek Ramsay was born in Enfield, England, United Kingdom. His full name is Derek Arthur Paggao Ramsay Jr. and holds a dual nationality of Filipino and British. In the early 2000s, Derek began his professional career as an MTV VJ, model, and TV commercial actor. Meanwhile, he inked with GMA Network in 2001. As a co-host, he made his television debut in the country’s longest-running noontime show, “Eat Bulaga!,” where he co-hosted the segment ‘Pool Watch’ from 2001 to 2004.
He is best known for his roles in the ABS-CBN television shows “Ysbella,” “Habang May Buhay,” and “Magkaribal.” Between 2005 and 2011, he appeared in several ABS-CBN television series. He joined TV5 in 2012 after signing a three-year contract. “The Amazing Race Philippines,” which he hosted, was his first show on the network.
In 2013, he played the lead role in the TV5 drama series, “Kidlat.” Similarly, he appeared in the TV5 drama series, ” Undercover” (2013), “For Love or Money” (2013), “Mac & Chiz” (2015), and “Brillante Mendoza’s Amo” (2018).

In 2006, he made his film debut in the Star Cinema Filipino romantic comedy film “Kasal, Kasali, Kasalo.” Some of his notable movies works include”Sakal, Sakali, Saklolo” (2007), “And I Love You So” (2009), “No Other Woman” (2011), “A Secret Affair” (2012), “English Only, Please” (2014), “Etiquette for Mistresses” (2015), “Love Is Blind” (2016), “All of You” (2017), and “The Girl in the Orange Dress” (2018).
Sports
He also played for the national ultimate frisbee team of the Philippines. Moreover, he finished ninth in the 13th World Ultimate and Guts Championship 2012. Similarly, he has also played basketball competitively.
He was a member of the Toyota Otis-Letran Knights in the now-defunct Philippine Basketball League in 2004. Additionally, he went to the Batangas City Athletics of the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) for the 2019–20 MPBL Lakan Season. Meanwhile, he made his debut for the team in Batangas’ 80–67 win against the Caloocan Supremos in July 2019.
Head ambassador of the Philippine national beach soccer team
He is currently the head ambassador of the Philippine national beach soccer team and was scheduled to compete in the 2013 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup Asian qualifiers, but was unable to do so due to his commitment to Kidlat, where he was playing the lead role.
He also enjoys golf, which he discovered after appearing in the 2014 film Trophy Wife. The celeb won the 2017 Jack Nicklaus International Invitational, a recreational golf tournament in Dublin, Ohio, with John Estrada.
