Moving on to his profession, Dell Curry was selected as the 15th overall pick by the Utah Jazz in the 1986 NBA Draft. However, he played only one season for Utah. Later, he was traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers in the year 1987. Meanwhile, he spent one season (1987-1988 season) for the Cavaliers.
He was not reserved by the Cleveland Cavaliers for the 1988-1989 season and was the second player selected, the first by the Charlotte Hornets. In addition, he spent 10 seasons in Charlotte, mostly coming off the bench to provide the instant offence with three-point shooting.
At one moment, he was the franchise’s all-time statistical leader in points, games played, three-point field goals made and attempted, and three-point field goal percentage. However, he left Charlotte in 1998, he was the last player remaining from its inaugural season 10 years earlier.
After this, he joined the Milwaukee Bucks and played one season. Later, he joined the Toronto Raptors and played his final three seasons. During his NBA playing career, he held career averages of 11.7 points, 2.4 rebounds, and 1.8 assists. Meanwhile, he retired as the all-time leading scorer in Hornets history with 9,839 points.
Post Career after NBA
After spending 16 years for the NBA, he was appointed associate coach of the Charlotte Bobcats in 2007. However, he resigned from this position for personal reasons. Then, in 2009, he began working as a colour commentator for the NBA’s Charlotte Hornets.
