David Choe was born on April 21, 1976(age 45 years old)in Los Angeles, California, USA. His parents are Korean immigrants who have experienced a new birth particularly known as rebirth. They belong to a Christian family with details about siblings under wraps.

Further, he along with Harry Kim made an autobiography documentary named Dirty Hands: The Art and Crimes of David Choe. He also accepted the mural commission from Hollywood madam Heidi Fleiss and Facebook founder and also performed a solo exhibit, Santa Rosa.

He was offered a solo exhibition at the Sanat Rosa Museum of Contemporary Arts in 2005 after his solo exhibitions in San Jose and San Francisco. Following the exhibition, he had another solo exhibition Gardener of Eden in 2007 at New York Jonathan LeVine Gallary, Chelsea. Likewise, his other solo exhibition Murderous Heart at the London and Newcastle locations of Lazarides Gallary. He grabbed the headline after his DVDASA Podcast that he had engaged in rude behavior with a masseuse. Later he defended his comment. Further, he was paid to paint the Bowery Mural Wall in 2017 but he was later protested by other artists including Swoon against his inclusion in the mural project.
