After completing her graduation, Danielle Galligan started her career in stage productions such as ‘The Train’ with the Rough Magic Theatre Company. Similarly, she was in All Honey and played the titular role in’ The Grimm Tale of Cinderella’ in 2017.

Later, she played the lead opposite in the 2018 Tom Moran in his play ‘Lyrics.’ She appeared with Finbarr Doyle in ‘Summertime’ a short play written by James Elliot. And, the play was featured at the 2018 Dublin Fringe Festival, the 2019 Drogheda Arts Festival, and Abbey Theater’s 2019 Young Curator Festival.

With Gavin Kotick, Galligan co-created and performed in the 2019 play ‘Gym Swim Party.’ Meanwhile, the production was featured in the 2019 Dublin Fringe Festival as well.

Television and Films

Apart from theaters, she has also worked in films and television. Back in 2016, she starred as The Wretched Girl in the 2016 short film “Closing Time.” Later, she starred and co-wrote the 2017 short film Strangers in the Park.”

Meanwhile, she earned the best actress at the Short+Sweet Film Festival and best duo alongside Mark Lawrence at the 6 Nebraska Film Festival for Strangers in the Park, which she co-wrote.

Her other short films are such as “Pernicio”(2018), “Beautiful Youth” (2018), “Tomorrow” (2018), “Break Us” (2019), and “We Don’t Choose How” (2020). She made her big screen debut in the role of Naomi in the 2021 Irish coming-of-age drama film “Who We Love.” The next year, she appeared in the Irish drama film “Lakelands” as Grace.

She made her  television debut in 2019 with guest roles in “Game of Thrones” and “Krypton.” However, her first major television role came as Nina Zenik in the Netflix series “Shadow and Bone,” an adaptation of the fantasy book series The Grisha Trilogy and the Six of Crows Duology by Leigh Bardugo, which premiered in 2021.

In 2021, she appeared in two series; “Kin” as Pharmacist and “The Great” as Yula. In the 2022 television film “Every Five Miles” she played the role of Saoirse Kennedy. Further, she has participated in RTÉ radio dramas such as The Playboy of the Western World and Hecuba by Marina Carr.

As an actress, she has won a total of three awards and three nominations in her acting career. In 2019, she won Best Actress at the Short+Sweet Film Festival and Best Acting Duo in 6 at the Nebraska Film Festival, She earned both awards for her works in the series “Strangers in the Park.”Similarly, she won the Bingham Ray New Talent Award in the 2022 Galway Film Fleadh.
