Fahey took over as host of MTV’s Total Request Live in 2002 when Carson Daly left the network to headline his late-night show on NBC. Fahey hosted Total Request Live for the remainder of its run till 2008.
When Craig Kilborn abruptly left CBS’s The Late, Late Show in 2004, Fahey filled in as a guest host and was reportedly one of the four contenders for the permanent position.

In 2009, Fahey hosted the lone season of NBC’s I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here. From 2012 to 2014, she presented The Morning After on Hulu.
Fahey started providing occasional voice acting for Family Guy in 2007. In 2015, he started contributing to Family Guy as a member of that team.
After that, in 2016, Fahey was given his first full writing credit for “Run Chris Run”. In 2017, he started putting together Family Guy episodes, rising from co-producer to supervising producer.
