The International Skating Union accused Claudia of blood doping and banned her from all competitions for two years after the World Championships in Norway in February 2009. However, she denied that she had doped.

Later on, she was allowed to participate in a single 3000 m race in Salt Lake City as she asked the Federal Supreme Court of Switzerland for an injunction. After some time, it was confirmed that Claudia’s blood dropped, and got banned from all competitions for two years.
