Christie Hefner is a businesswoman from the United States. Christie Hefner served as the chairman and CEO of Playboy Enterprises from 1988 to 2009. In addition, she is also the daughter of the Playboy magazine founder Hugh Hefner.

Christie Hefner was born in Chicago, Illinois, United States, on November 8, 1952. Her full name is Christie Ann Hefner and holds American nationality. She along with her brother David and her mother moved to Wilmette, Illinois, after their parents divorced. In addition, she has two half-brothers, Cooper and Marston from her father’s marriage to Kimberly Conrad.

After completing his graduation, Christie Hefner freelanced for the Boston Phoenix for a year, writing movie reviews. After earning journalism experience, she relocated to Chicago and joined her father’s enterprise, working for Playboy. Within four years, she was elevated to vice president of the company and then president in 1982.

She became Playboy Enterprises’ chairman and CEO in 1988. Moreover, she joined Playboy as a temporary measure and did not expect to stay for long. However, after the first five years, she began to enjoy the business world and recognized her potential as a leader and businesswoman.

Under her leadership, Playboy Enterprise acquired ‘Spice Network’ and ‘ClubJenna,’ for example. In 2008, she overhauled the company’s operations, closing the DVD business and laying off unnecessary workers.

She is also responsible for closing down the Playboy Clubs, which were managed by female waitresses dressed as Playboy bunnies. To keep up, she developed Playboy TV and Playboy.com.

She declared in December 2008 that she would be stepping down as CEO of Playboy in a year and that she would devote her time to charity work. President Barack Obama, according to her statement, influenced her to accept the shift in her life.

She went on to work in the health business until becoming Canyon Ranch Enterprises’ executive chairman in 2011. It owns and operates six premier spa resorts as well as a health and wellness website.

Other projects

In 2015, she left Canyon Ranch Enterprises to become chairman of Hatch Beauty, a personal care brand. The brand is well-known for its distinctive beauty and personal care products. She has also joined the board of RDO Companies, a $3 billion agriculture corporation.

Moreover, she is a founding member of The Chicago Network, The Committee of 200, and Women Corporate Directors, among many other things. She is a trustee of Rush University Medical Center and a member of Springboard Enterprises’ advisory board.
