He even narrowly missed out on being the national scoring leader but was recognized as an All-American, a first for AIC at the Division I level.
Likewise, in a remarkable run through the Atlantic Hockey Tournament, he was able to play a crucial role in the team’s success, scoring the overtime winner in the semifinal and assisting on the OT goal in the title game. This conference championship was able to earn American International their first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance, despite being the lowest seed. Despite being heavily outshot, his assist on Brennan Kapcheck’s game-winning goal resulted in a stunning upset over top-seeded St. Cloud State.

Moreover, in his final year, Blake went on to take on the role of alternate captain. Although his scoring dipped slightly, the Yellow Jackets were poised for another shot at the NCAA Tournament. Unfortunately, the season was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic after AIC secured their second consecutive regular season title. The pandemic also delayed the start of Christensen’s professional career, and he initially was able to play for Manglerud Star Ishockey.
When the AHL season finally started, he was able to make his debut with the Bakersfield Condors but struggled to find his rhythm. Christensen only played 10 games and was not re-signed after the season. However, despite a challenging first season, he went on to sign a second professional contract, this time with the Springfield Thunderbirds.
Furthermore, Christensen was an assistant at Michigan State when the Spartans won the national title in the year 1986.
