Barbara Crampton went to Los Angeles to pursue a career in acting. She made her television debut on the daytime drama “Days of Our Lives,” where she played Trista Evans Bradford from 1983 to 1984.

She subsequently starred in the pilot episode of “Rituals” playing the role of Sandy Hutchison in the year 1984. The same year, she starred in the television film “Love Thy Neighbor,” and the television series “Santa Barbara.”

Big screen debut

She made her big screen debut in the 1984 film Body Double, playing the role of Carol. She continued her film career, appearing as Chrissie in “Fraternity Vacation” (1985), Megan Halsey in “Re-Animator” (1985), “Chopping Mall” (1986), and “From Beyond” (1986).

For her role as Dr. Katherine McMichaels in the film “From Beyond,” she was nominated for the Saturn Award for Best Actress. In the 1986  ABC television film “Prince of Bel Air,” she was cast in the role of Anne White.

She played Teri in an episode of the TV series “Ohara” and was cast in the film “Kidnapped” in 1987. From 1987 until 2007, she portrayed Leanna Love on the soap opera “The Young and the Restless.”

She returned to the show in 2023 to celebrate its 50th anniversary. Moreover, she appeared in the 1989 horror thriller “Puppet Master” as a cameo. In 1991, she played Sadie Brady in the film “Trancers II.”

She co-starred opposite Don Michael Paul in the 1993 film ‘Robot Wars” as archeologist Dr. Leda Fanning. From 1993 to 1995, she guest starred on the TV series “Civil Wars” and played Mindy Lewis on “Guiding Light” until leaving when her contract ended.

She then became engaged to L.A.-based actor and director Kristoffer Tabori in April 1995. By September of that year, their engagement had been called off. The actress featured in the 1995 film “Castle Freak.”

Continued her successful acting career

She played the role of Maggie Forrester on the soap opera “The Bold and the Beautiful” from 1995 to 1998. In 1996, she played Carol in the film “Space Truckers.” The next year, she had a cameo appearance on the sitcom “The Nanny.” The following year, she appeared as a guest star on “Party of Five” and in the film “The Godson.” In 1999, she appeared as a guest on the television series “Pacific Blue.”

She played the recurring role of Dr. Leslie Bogan in 5 episodes of the television series Spyder Games” and was also cast in the film “Thy Neighbor’s Wife” in the year 2001. In 2004, she appeared in “The Sisterhood.” She later starred in “Read You Like a Book” (2006) and “Never Enough” (2008).

Moreover, she made a special appearance during Creation Entertainment’s Weekend of Horror 2010. She made a supporting part in the 2011 horror slasher film “You’re Next” and the major role of Anne Sacchetti in “We Are Still Here” (2015), which co-starred Lisa Marie and Larry Fessenden. Both movies garnered positive feedback from reviewers.

Recent Works

She then starred in Abner Pastoll’s “taut Euro thriller” Road Games, in which she spoke both French and English. In 2015, she appeared in the Harrison Smith horror thriller Death House alongside Danny Trejo, Kane Hodder, Bill Moseley, Michael Berryman, Doug Bradley, Gunnar Hansen, Ken Foree, and Dee Wallace.

She produced and appeared in the horror drama “Jakob’s Wife,” which she created herself over several years. The same year, she played serial killer Nicolette Aster in an audio drama rendition of “Our Lady of the Inferno” and starred in the Lovecraftian film “Sacrifice.”

In 2021, she also voiced Mom in the first-person shooter video game “Back 4 Blood.” She worked as a producer in the 2022 film “Glorious.” Similarly, she starred as Daniella and also produced the 2023 film “Suitable Flesh.” Currently, she is working on her upcoming project “Blackout” which is currently in post-production.

In 2018, Crampton won the Grimmfest Award in the category Horror Channel Lifetime Achievement and won the Time-Machine Honorary Award in 2016. She was nominated for a Chainsaw Award in the category of Best Actress for ‘We Are Still Here’ in 2016, and she has also been nominated multiple times throughout her career.
