Talking about his professional career, Ansel Elgort made his debut appearance as a lead in the Off-Broadway production of Regrets in March 2012. Later, he made his film debut in a supporting role in the horror movie “Carrie” (2013). He rose to fame after playing the role of Caleb Prior in the sci-fi action film “Divergent” (2014). He got his career’s biggest breakthrough after portraying the role of Augustus Waters (a teenage cancer patient) in the 2014 romantic movie “The Fault in Our Stars” alongside Shailene Woodley. For his role in the movie, he was able to earn worldwide recognition and even won several awards. He was named one of the best actors under 20 years of age in 2014.

Afterward, he co-starred in the dramatic film “Men, Women & Children” along with his LaGuardia classmate Timothée Chalamet. Again, he reprised his role of Caleb Prior in the second film “The Divergent Series: Insurgent” (2015), and in the third film, “The Divergent Series: Allegiant” (2016).
He played the title role in the 2017 action movie “Baby Driver” and that same year, he played Addison Schacht in the drama thriller film, “November Criminals.” The next year, he played the role of Joe Hunt in the crime drama film “Billionaire Boys Club.”
He portrayed the lead role of Tony in a romantic musical film, “West Side Story.” This film is an adaptation of the 1957 stage musical of the same name directed by Steven Spielberg. The tweet went viral, on Saturday, June 20, 2020, Elgort ignored assaulting the woman via his Instagram post acknowledging that he knew Gabby and said they had had a “brief, legal, and entirely consensual relationship” when he was 20 in 2014, but he said he did not behave well in their breakup.
