Early Life
On the 7th of September 1974, Andre Rush was born in Columbus, Mississippi, in the United States of America. He is currently 48 years old as of 2022 and has a birth sign of Virgo. However, his ethnic background and religious belief is still unknown.

Professional Career
After completing his graduation, Andre Rush joined the e US Army in 1993. He has served as a trainer in hand-to-hand combat and food service and has been deployed several times. Moreover, he started working as a cook at the White House in 1997. He has worked for Presidents Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, Barack Obama, and Donald Trump.
Additionally, he worked part-time at the White House while also working at The Pentagon. He was in the Pentagon’s gym when it was attacked on September 11, 2001, and chose to volunteer for combat duties afterward.

He rose to prominence in June 2018 after being photographed by CNN reporter Kate Bennett and Wall Street Journal reporter Vivian Salama preparing a Ramadan meal for a White House dinner. A picture of him cooking on the White House lawn during the annual White House Iftar dinner went viral on Twitter.
Later that year, he signed a deal to produce Chef in the City, a television show. He has since resigned from his position as White House chef. Rush served on the United States Army Culinary Arts Team. His interests outside of cooking include ice carving, motivational speaking, and life coaching.

After the release of his debut book, “Call Me Chef, Dammit!,’ in 2022, he added best-selling author to his list of accomplishments. In the book, he reveals his battle with PTSD, toxic leadership, and overcoming racism to become an esteemed chef working in America’s most famous house.
Moreover, he has appeared on the Rachael Ray Show, the Kelly Clarkson Show, Good Morning America, and The Today Show, to name a few. He has been featured in numerous publications, including Washingtonian, Food & Wine, TMZ, and Muscle & Health.
He is the host of the Tubi streaming series “Kitchen Commando” (produced by Chef Gordon Ramsay) and is working on a number of other projects in television, writing, and product development, all while continuing his veteran outreach and mental health awareness mission.

During his career, Rush has been able to earn several awards and honors. The Bronze Star, Legion of Merit, and the Belgium Peace Medal are some of his medals and honors. Similarly, he has competed in culinary events across the globe, accumulating more than 150 awards and trophies, was presented the Key to the City of his hometown of Columbus, Mississippi, and is the first chef to be inducted into the Weightlifting Hall of Fame. He received a celebration of service award in 2020 after attending the opening of a Salvation Army in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
