In the summer of 2010, he was named the paper’s Los Angeles bureau chief. In April 2020, he joined the Times’ politics bureau, where he assisted in covering the 2020 presidential race. He was designated West Coast culture correspondent in April 2021. In 2023, he returned to reporting national politics. As part of his journalism works, he is a writer.
