A police officer fatally shot Atatiana Koquice Jefferson, a 28-year-old woman, inside her house in Fort Worth, Texas, United States, early on October 12, 2019. Police came to her home when a neighbour contacted a non-emergency number and reported Jefferson’s front door being open.
Police body camera footage captured police walking outside the residence with spotlights for a few minutes before one officer yelled, “Put your hands up! “Show me your hands!” he said as he fired the weapon through a window. Police discovered a revolver beside Jefferson’s dead body, which her eight-year-old nephew stated she was pointing at the window before being shot.

On October 14, 2019, the shooter, Officer Aaron Dean, resigned from the Fort Worth Police Department and was charged with murder. On December 20, 2019, Dean was charged for murder.
Jefferson was black, and the officer who shot her was white, causing news sources to draw comparisons between her shooting and the September 2018 death of Botham Jean in neighbouring Dallas. On December 15, 2022, Dean was found guilty of the lesser felony of manslaughter. He was sentenced to 11 years, 10 months, and twelve days in prison.
