Animal Abuse
On 6 August 2019, she accidentally uploaded a video pranking her pet Doberman named Sphinx. In addition to the prank, Sphinx has always been jumping around her to be playful.
However, she reached a different level. She is seen choking holding, spitting hitting, kicking, and shoving her Doberman pet.
The video was eventually taken down from her channel later on. But before that happened, people had already downloaded the video.
She did upload it again but was edited to make it seem like a normal video on her channel. However, she proceeded to take it down as well with a lot of re-uploads still in play.
Response
Regarding the abusive video, she did make a statement on Twitter claiming that she did overthink, had been less exceptionable, and overall claims she is not an animal abuser.
She also claimed that she did not spit on her dog but the video clearly showed the opposite of what she claimed. Moreover, she also confessed that she should not have shouted at her pet as she did in the footage.
Over 100,000 Twitter users responded to her Tweet claiming that she shouldn’t own a 70 lb Doberman if she does not know how to. Some Twitter users also replied constructively.
Some of such comments/replies were “other pet-owners never attempted physical conflicts with their pet”, should have her Doberman taken away, and should be terminated off of YouTube.

The growth of the Controversy
The controversy did not get as big until the next day, i.e. 7 August. She lost over 4,000 subscribers on YouTube and 2,000 the next day. She had been trending on Twitter in the United States.
Many people called the Animal Cruelty Task Force and they investigated what had happened during the film. Following the investigation, the police decided not to charge her with animal abuse. But her YouTube channel and career have ultimately come to an end.
She gained over 100,000 dislikes on her latest video in 24 hours. She also gained a mass amount of dislikes in her other latest videos. Moreover, her Instagram account was deleted on 7 August, as the growth of the controversy was rising.

Brooke Houts is in a romantic relationship with Teale. The couple has a couple’s YouTube channel called “Brooke & Teale” and they started sharing videos on this channel in March 2020.
