Trevor Noah is an international stand-up comedian. Trevor Noah was named the host of “The Daily Show” in 2015 succeeding Jon Stewart.
Early Life and Childhood
Trevor Noah was born on February 20, 1984, in Soweto, Johannesburg, South Africa. He is currently 40 years old. He is a child of Robert (father) and Patricia Nombuyiselo Noah (mother).
Noah’s parents’ interracial relationship was illegal at the time of his birth under apartheid law.
Until the amended Immortality Act of 1985, interracial sexual relations and marriages were not decriminalized.
Thus, Patricia raised Noah in the black township of Soweto. Further, his mother was black Xhosa, and his father was Swiss-German.
Noah started preschool at the age of three and primary school at the age of five. He went to private Maryvale College, a Catholic school in Johannesburg during his early youth.
His experience growing up with interracial parents is also reflected in his comedy works which would often look at the racial dynamics of his native country.
Similarly, he speaks English, Afrikaans, Zulu, Xhosa, Tswana, Tsonga, and some German.[
Professional Life
Noah started his career at the age of eighteen. In 2002, he played a small role in an episode of the South African soap opera Isidingo.
Later, he started his radio show Noah’s Ark on Gauteng’s leading youth radio station, YFM. He has written, produced, and starred in eight comedy specials, including Afraid of the Dark on Netflix.

In the year 2016, he debuted his one-hour stand-up special Trevor Noah: Lost in Translation on Comedy Central.
Likewise, he was also the subject of David Paul Meyer’s award-winning documentary film You Laugh But It’s True. The documentary depicts the story of his remarkable career in post-apartheid South Africa.

Similarly, the prominent comedian released his first book, Born a Crime: Stories from a South African Childhood. This book became an instant New York Times bestseller.

Trevor began the Trevor Noah Foundation, a youth development initiative that focuses on youth preparedness for higher education.

The foundation in partnership with Microsoft can provide under-resourced schools with opportunities to use technology as a tool to enhance the learning experience as well as to increase digital literacy beyond the classroom.
International Stand-Up Star
Since the year 2009, he has helmed his one-man show, The Daywalker, which was also filmed as a documentary, and hosted The South African Music Awards.
In the year 2010, his talk show, Tonight With Noah, debuted on M-Net and Mzansi Magic channels. Similarly, after performing stand-up in the United States, he staged another one-man show, The Racist, at the 2012 Edinburgh Fringe Festival. The same year (2012), he also made his U.S. TV debut on The Tonight Show With Jay Leno.
In the show, he became the first African comedian to appear on the program.
Then, he had his comedy special on Showtime, Trevor Noah: African American in the year 2013. And the following year (2014),
he landed yet another major gig, debuting as a correspondent for Comedy Central’s The Daily Show With Jon Stewart.
Appointed ‘Daily Show Host
In the year 2015, the prominent comedian was replaced in The Daily Show after Stewart announced that he would be leaving the program.
On 28 September 2015, he made a debut with fellow comedian Kevin Hart as the first guest. He had even released the autobiography Born a Crime, which became a New York Times best-seller. In September 2017, viewership of The Daily Show was generally below that of the peak days of the uber-popular Stewart, Comedy Central saw enough positive signs from the new host to sign him to a five-year.
He subsequently released a statement in which he joked,
“It’s really exciting to renew this contract for either five more years or until Kim Jong-un annihilates us all — whichever one comes first.”
Awards and Achievements
The show was also nominated for the Outstanding Interactive Program and Outstanding Short Form Variety Series as well as a Writers Guild Award nomination for Comedy/Variety Talk Series.
Similarly, he also won Best Host at the 2017 MTV Movie & TV Awards.
Moreover, he received a 2017 Creative Arts Emmy Award for Outstanding Short Form Variety Series for his hosting role on The Daily Show-Between the Scenes.

Trevor was nominated for Personality of the Year at the 2014 and 2015 MTV Africa Music Awards. He won the award in 2015.
Trevors’ book, Born a Crime: Stories from a South African Childhood won the Thurber Prize for American Humor and two NAACP Image Awards; one for Outstanding Literary Work by debut Author. And another for Outstanding Literary Work in the Biography/Autobiography category.

Trevor Noah has been in two relationships in the past 5 years. He was in a relationship with Dani Gabriel. They met in South Africa when his career started to take off.
Gabriel traveled around the world with Noah when he was on tour. She was supportive of his job and career. Noah then had to move to New York.
Gabriel was not going to be able to pick her career and life with him. Thus, their relationship ended.
After a short period of moving to America, Trevor started dating Jordyn Taylor, a former singer, and model. Their relationship ended in 2018.
They have not officially said why the relationship ended. However, Taylor let her Instagram followers know about the split.
