Again, he played exclusively as the third baseman and made an appearance in most of the regular-season games, missing only six games. He also placed fifth in the National League as Most Valuable Player voting and received a Silver Slugger award.

In the 2017 season, he became a National League position player in wins during the first half of the season. Moreover, he batted .308 (4th in the NL)/.374/.535 (7th in the NL) with 24 home runs and led the National League with 44 doubles in the 2018 season. He also batted .319/.412/.598 with 34 home runs again leading the NL with 44 doubles and leading the majors in RBIs (126) in 2019.
