Kalipa’s husband Mark Vincent Hurd was co-CEO of Oracle Corporation along with Safra Catz and also served on the Board of Directors. He previously served as Chairman, Chief Executive Officer, and president of Hewlett-Packard, before resigning in 2010. He also was on the Board of Directors at the Menlo Park startup Globality Inc. Hurd was a member of the Technology CEO Council and served on the Board of Directors of News Corporation until 2010.
In September 2019, Mark announced taking leave from his work for health reasons but didn’t specify for leave but neither he nor the company-specified period of leave. Also, he stated in his absence the responsibility would be gone to Oracle’s founder Larry Ellison along with another CEO Safra Catz. Her husband took his last breath on October 18, 2019, at the age of 62 years. Later, the news of Mark’s death was confirmed by the company.
