New Orleans Saints
In the 2011 NFL Draft, the New Orleans Saints picked Mark Ingram II in the first round with the 28th pick. Meanwhile, agreed with the Saints on a four-year contract, with three years guaranteed and a fifth-year option, a contract worth $7.41 million, with a $3.89 million signing bonus. He played for the Saints for seven seasons.
During his rookie season, he finished with 474 rushing yards and five touchdowns. In the 2012 season, he finished with 602 rushing yards and five rushing touchdowns. He concluded the 2013 season with 386 rushing yards and one rushing touchdown.

In the 2014 NFL season, he recorded a career-high 1,109 yards from scrimmage (964 rushing yards and 145 receiving yards). He received his first career Pro Bowl nomination. He concluded the 2015 season with 769 rushing yards, six rushing touchdowns, and 405 receiving yards. Moreover, he concluded the 2016 season with 1,043 rushing yards, 319 receiving yards, and 10 touchdowns. In 2016, he finished ninth among NFL running backs with 5.1 yards per attempt.
He finished his 2017 season with 25 rushing yards in the 29–24 loss. Similarly, he was also ranked 43rd by his fellow players on the NFL Top 100 Players of 2018.
On May 8, 2018, he was suspended for the first four games of the season due to violating the policy on performance-enhancing drugs. He later returned to the game and finished the season with 645 rushing yards and six rushing touchdowns to go along with 21 receptions for 170 receiving yards and one receiving touchdown. In addition, he was listed in the 80th position by his fellow players on the NFL Top 100 Players of 2019.
Baltimore Ravens
He signed a three-year, $15 million contract with the Baltimore Ravens on the 13th of March 2019. He made his debut for the team in Week 1 against the Miami Dolphins. In that game, he rushed 14 times for 107 yards and two touchdowns as the Ravens won 59–10.
During his first season with the team, he finished with 1,018 rushing yards and ten rushing touchdowns to go along with 26 receptions for 247 receiving yards and five receiving touchdowns. Similarly, he was positioned 44th by his fellow players on the NFL Top 100 Players of 2020. In the 2020 season, he finished with 72 carries for 299 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns in 11 games. However, he was waived by the Ravens on the 19th of January 2021.
Houston Texans and New Orleans Saints
He signed a one-year contract with the Houston Texans for $2.5 million including a $500,000 signing bonus on the 24th of March 2021.
He was traded back to the New Orleans Saints in exchange for a 2024 seventh-round pick on the 29th of October 2021. During the 2021 NFL season, he finished with 160 carries for 554 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns to go along with 27 receptions for 162 receiving yards.
Moreover, in the 2022 season, he appeared in ten games and started three. Moreover, he ended the season with 62 carries for 233 rushing yards and one rushing touchdown. He announced his retirement from playing football on the 6th of July 2023.
