Johnson and Kosove provided Smith with a 221-page business plan for an independent film company that included assured distribution from a major studio, disciplined control of overhead, production, and marketing expenses, and ownership of a film library.

As a result, Smith agreed to partner with Johnson and Kosove in what became the current finance, development, and production company Alcon Entertainment. Since then, this company has established multiple exclusive long-term distribution agreements with Warner Bros.
Johnson made his movie debut as a co-producer in 1996 with the film “Italian Lovers” (Love Is All There Is).
