Tom Stoltman

Tom Stoltman is a British Weightlifter and Athlete. Tom Stoltman is the winner of the “2021 World’s Strongest Man” competition, making him the first Scotsman to do so. He also was the runner-up at the 2020 competition.

Early Life and Childhood

Tom Stoltman was born on May 30, 1994, in Invergordon, Scotland. He is 29 years old and is under the astrological sign, Gemini. He holds British nationality.

His father’s name is Ben and his mother’s name is Sheila. He also has an older brother whose name is Luke. His brother is also a weightlifter and his fellow strongman competitor. He has other three siblings as well but all of their names are unknown as of now.

His youngest brother, Harry works for the Stoltman Brothers’ business and is currently training to compete in strongman competition. Sadly, his mother passed away when she was 56 years old in the year 2016. And, Tom Stoltman along with his brother Luke regularly cite their mother’s influence as key to inspiring them to succeed in their careers.

Regarding Stoltman’s educational background and qualifications, he attended Newmore Primary School and Invergordon Academy in the Scottish Highlands where he developed his passion for playing football. Because of this passion, he was invited to Ross County and Rangers youth set up for trials.

Also, he was inspired by his brother’s success as Scotland’s Strongest Man. So, he went on to switch his attention to weight training in the local gym when he was 16 years old. And, within a year, he was showing such potential that Luke decided to take him under his wing and guide him through strongman training.

Career and Professional Life

Tom Stoltman was able to enter and win his first competition, “Highlands Strongest Man” when he was 18 years old. Then, this was followed by success at the Scotland’s Strongest Man (SSM) qualifier where he subsequently placed 5th in the main event.

In the year 2015, he was able to reach the podium of SSM, finishing second only to his elder brother Luke the next three years in a row. But it was the year 2017 when he had a breakthrough year. He was able to come in second in the UK’s Strongest Man competition and place 6th at Britain’s Strongest Man.

He even went on to earn an invitation to his first World’s Strongest Man but withdrew after the first two events. Tom also secured his first SSM win and finished 8th at the World’s Ultimate Strongman in Dubai in 2018.

More About Career

Likewise, he had a strong performance, ranking 5th at the World’s Strongest Man and 3rd at the World’s Ultimate Strongman in the year 2019. He also went on to secure his second SSM win and achieve a podium finish at BSM.

Then, in the year 2020, he was able to make a comeback to the World’s Strongest Man finals in Florida, finishing in second place despite a challenging Hercules Hold event. He took 2nd place at BSM that year as well. And, broke the world record for the Giants Live light set of Castle Stones.

Tom Stoltman went on to become the World’s Strongest Man in Sacramento, California, in the year 2021. He also was able to win two events and enter the final event ahead of Brian Shaw. He secured the victory by completing the Atlas Stone run in record time, bringing the title to Scotland for the first time, and won Britain’s Strongest Man as well.

Moreover, Stoltman defended his BSM title in Sheffield, England, in the year 2022. And, at the World’s Strongest Man, he was able to dominate his heat, winning the first 4 events.

Also, in the final, he went on to face three former champions and won by 10.5 points, becoming the second Briton to win two titles and the first to win back-to-back. He placed 2nd at WSM and won the Hummer Deadlift event by lifting 499kg in 2023.

Other Ventures

Tom Stoltman along with his brother, Luke Stoltman went on to open “The Stoltman Strength Centre” in Invergordon in the year 2018. It was originally a joint venture but it is now fully owned by the Stoltman Brothers Ltd. Primarily, they train there and recently partnered with Primal for an upgrade, making it a state-of-the-art facility.

Also, as the Stoltman Brothers gained popularity, they started selling their own branded merchandise online. Initially, it featured images of the brothers, but now it includes everyday lifestyle clothing with Stoltman branding, motivational apparel with their values and quotes, and even collaborations with other strongmen. The brother even set up their strength training academy in the year 2022.

Likewise, they also have a YouTube channel where they share their training as well as competition videos, take on challenges, and give viewers a glimpse into the life of professional strongmen. They often collaborate with popular health and fitness personalities such as Eddie Hall, Matt Does Fitness, Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson, and Larry Wheels.

Moreover, they even went on to release an autobiographical book, “Lifting: Becoming the World’s Strongest Brothers”, in the year 2023. The brothers also feature and narrate in Coach Mike Chadwick’s “The Red On Revolution book”, published in 2022.
