Karla assisted Bernardo in raping her by administering a small dose of the anaesthetic agent Halothane. Tammy was sleeping when she was raped, and she died from choking on her vomit while sleeping.
Meanwhile, Karla and Bernando were apprehended in 1993 and she was sentenced to 12 years in prison for manslaughter. She testified against Bernardo, who was convicted of the Mahaffy-French murders and sentenced to life in prison with the designation of dangerous offender.
