Clancy Brown made his acting debut with the 1983 crime drama film “Bad Boys” where he was cast as Viking Lofgren. That same year, he as Kelly in an episode of the action comedy TV series “The Dukes of Hazzard.” In 1984, he played Rawhide in the science fiction movie “The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension.”
He played Viktor the Monster in “The Bride” (1985), an unusual take on the classic Frankenstein story, before playing the evil Kurgan in “Highlander” (1986), who hunted fellow immortals Christopher Lambert and Sean Connery across four centuries of time.
He portrayed a corrupt American soldier in the 1987 Walter Hill-directed hyper-violent action film “Extreme Prejudice.” The next year, he played a deranged killer Steve in the film “Shoot to Kill.” Additionally, he portrayed a brutal prison guard, who eventually somewhat “befriends” wrongfully convicted banker Tim Robbins, in the movie “The Shawshank Redemption” (1994).
His superb vocal abilities were in high demand, and he provided voices for animated series such as “Mortal Kombat: Defenders of the Realm” (1995), “Street Sharks” (1994), “Gargoyles” (1994), and “Superman: The Animated Series” (1996). He then landed two more high-profile roles, one as a “tough-as-nails” drill sergeant in the science fiction thriller “Starship Troopers” (1997) and the other alongside Robin Williams in the Disney comedy “Flubber” (1997).

Aside from his acting roles, he has provided voice to several cartoon characters. Meanwhile, he lent the voice of Lex Luthor in the DC Animated Universe (1996–2006) and Eugene Krabs on SpongeBob SquarePants (1999–present).
