However, the album was never officially released due to creative differences between Leslie and his record label.
In 2005, he found R&B singer Cassie, who signed a deal with Leslie’s NextSelection label imprint, which was a joint venture with Puff Daddy’s Bad Boy Records. He wrote and produced her platinum-certified hit single “Me & U,” as well as the entirety of her debut album (2006).

He went on to record his own self-titled debut album for Universal Motown Records, which was released in February 2009, Meanwhile, the album was a moderate success and had generally favourable reviews.
