Sam Martin was the First-team Associated Press All-American. He even was named first-team all-America by College Sports Journal as well as third-team all-America by The Sports Network. He also became the NCAA Division I FCS Punter of the Year by College Football Performance Awards.
The league’s coaches and media also named him first-team all-Southern Conference as a punter and second-team all-SoCon as a placekicker by the league’s coaches. He was the three-time SoCon Player of the Week as well. Likewise, he was able to earn second-team all-Southern Conference accolades despite battling a nagging groin injury throughout the campaign in the year 2011.
Martin started the new season as the team’s punter and place-kicker. He was able to be named national and conference Special Teams Player of the Week for his performance against SSU.
In the year 2010, he went on to play in all 13 games, booting 60 of ASU’s 61 punts on the season and ranked fourth in the Southern Conference with a 39.2-yard average. He was able to earn academic all-SoCon recognition for achievements on the field and in the classroom.
Moreover, Sam was able to receive an award as the NFC Special Teams Player of the Week. It was for four punts totaling 181 yards and only three punt return yards in Week 12 of the 2015 season. He then went on to sign a four-year contract extension with the Lions in September 2016.
He signed a three-year, $7.05 million deal with the Denver Broncos in the year 2020 and left in 2022. Furthermore, in August 2022, she went on to sign a one-year deal with the Buffalo Bills and signed a three-year, $7.5 million contract extension in March 2023.
