John Farley’s younger brother discovered Farley dead in his Chicago apartment in the John Hancock Center around 2:00 p.m. EST on December 18, 1997. Farley was 33 years old. An autopsy found that Farley had overdosed on a “speedball,” or a common combination of cocaine and morphine.
