Anna Lapwood conducts the Pembroke College Chapel Choir at Cambridge University, as Director of Music. She was appointed Bye-Fellow of the College, in January 2020. Thus, she is the youngest ever in the College’s history.
Later on, she founded the Pembroke College Girls’ Choir, in 2018. It consists of girls aged 11–18 from local schools and performs evensong weekly. For girls every year, she also runs the Cambridge Organ Experience.

Additionally, since 2017, she has been running the Pembroke College Bach-a-thon. The main motive is to raise funds for the Pembroke College Choir’s tour to Zambia. Moreover, all of the organists taking part in the Bach-a-thon were female, in 2018. Yet again, she established another choir at Pembroke College, in 2019. It was designed to teach sight-reading skills to singers.
She and the choirs of Pembroke College appeared on BBC One’s show, on December 15, 2019. It was in the show ‘Britain’s Christmas Story’, presented by Gareth Malone and Karen Gibson. At the Junior Royal Academy of Music, she studied piano, violin, viola, and composition. Therefore, she was the principal harpist for the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain. Also, was the principal harpist at the Junior Academy Symphony Orchestra.
More About Career
As an organist, She has performed in the Royal Albert Hall, and the Royal Festival Hall, as an organist. Similarly, she has got the opportunity to play in the St Thomas Church, in New York. She opened the BAFTA TV Awards on the organ at the Royal Festival Hall, in 2019.
As a conductor, The organist directed the BBC Singers as part of the BBC Inspire Programme, as a conductor. In different countries like Thailand, Perth, Shenzen, Shanghai, and Lusaka, she has led choral workshops. Also, regularly works in Zambia through her role as a trustee of The Muze Trust.
Besides that, as a singer, she has released two albums as part of Gareth Malone’s professional ensemble Voices. Whereas, she has performed at the Classical Brit Awards and the Royal Variety Show. Moreover, she has performed at the National Eisteddfod of Wales, among other TV performances.
