Golshifteh Farahani is an Iranian-French Movie Actress. Golshifteh Farahani is an internationally recognized film star who was able to win several Best Actress awards for her performances in Mim Mesle Madar and Ashk-e Sarma. Education

Regarding Farahani’s educational background and qualifications, she started studying music and piano when she was 5 years old. Later on, she was able to enter a music school in Tehran.

Career and Professional Life

Golshifteh Farahani was able to star in the drama “About Elly”. This drama went on to win Best Picture at the 2009 Tribeca Film Festival and a Silver Bear at the Berlin International Film Festival.

In the year 2012, she went on to feature in “The Patience Stone”. This movie was inspired by a novel by Atiq Rahimi. The movie was a hit as most of the critics loved it and received a good review. In that same year, she was able to appear in a 2012 César Award video in the Most Promising Actors category.

Likewise, she was able to play Anna Karenina on stage in “Paris” in the year 2016 which received laudatory reviews. Farahani then went on to star opposite the actor, Adam Driver in an American feature film, “Paterson”.

Moreover, in the year 2017, she was able to appear in the fantasy film “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales” as the sea witch Shansa. She also starred in the action film “Extraction” as Nik Khan.

Golshifteh Farahani is also involved in environmental causes. She is also an advocate who has a great hand in the eradication of tuberculosis in Iran. There, she even was a member of Kooch Neshin (Nomads) which is a band that was able to win the 2nd Tehran Avenue underground rock competition.

Also, after leaving Iran, she went on to team up with another exiled Iranian musician, Mohsen Namjoo. They released their album “Oy” in October 2009. Also, in December of the year 2014, she was able to take 6th place in the annual Independent Critics Beauty List of 2014.

And, she has been able to work with directors like Roland Joffé, Huner Saleem, and Marjane Satrapi, among others since the time she moved to Paris. At the 63rd Locarno Film Festival, she was a member of the international jury. The British rock band Coldplay went out of their way to invite her to perform with them a cover of Shervin Hajipour’s Baraye.

When Golshifteh Farahani appeared in the U.S. film “Body of Lies”, the Iranian government authorities prevented her from leaving Iran was reported. But later on, her colleagues denied it and she came to the movie’s American premiere. Then, in January 2012, it was reported that she would not be welcome in her native Iran after posing nude in the French magazine Madame Figaro.

According to Britain’s Daily Telegraph, Iranian government officials told her, “Iran does not need actors or artists like you. You may offer your artistic services somewhere else”. She even went on to appear topless in a short black-and-white film by Jean-Baptiste Mondino called Corps et Âmes (Bodies and Souls). Farahani posed for fully nude photographs as well.
