She was born to her mother Sophie E. Manz and her father’s name is still unknown at the moment. By profession, her mother used to work as a cleaning woman in the Twin Towers in New York City. At the age of 15 years old, Linda Manz was cast by Terrence Malick to play the young narrator in his second film “Days of Heaven” which was released in the year 1978. She portrays a streetwise orphan who joins her older brother and his lover in fleeing Chicago in 1916, finding work and then refuge with a wealthy Texas farmer.

Due to Terrence’s lengthy editing, the film was not released until 1978. Linda’s role was initially more minor, but Terrence was so impressed with her that he decided at the last minute to have her improvise an unscripted narration.

Linda starred along with Ken Wahl in the 1979 teenage gang drama “The Wanderers,” which was directed by Philip Kaufman. She next appeared in “Dorothy,” a short-lived CBS series. Moreover, she then appeared in the 1979 television film “Orphan Train” as Sarah, one of many orphans relocated from eastern orphanages to farms in the West and Midwest in the late 1800s/early 1900s.

Moreover, she rose to prominence as the lead in Dennis Hopper’s influential cult film “Out of the Blue” (1980). In Dennis’s drama, she played Cebe, a troubled Elvis-obsessed teen who hides her vulnerability with a punk attitude.

She broadcasts statements like “Kill all hippies!” and “Subvert normality!” over a CB radio. Primal Scream sampled her voice in their 2000 song “Kill All Hippies.” She starred in the 1981 television film “Longshot,” alongside Leif Garrett and Ralph Seymour. Moreover, she appeared as a robber in “The Snow Queen,” an episode of Faerie Tale Theatre in 1985. Moreover, she had disappeared from the industry by the mid-1980s.
