Vince Flynn is a late American author. Vince Flynn is widely known for his political thriller novels based on the character ‘Mitch Rapp.’  In addition, he was also a story consultant for the fifth season of the television series “24.”

Early Life

Vince Flynn was born on the 6th of April 1966, in Saint Paul, Minnesota, in the United States of America. At the age of 47 years old, he passed away and had a birth sign of Aries. His full name is Vincent Joseph Flynn and held American nationality. Meanwhile, he practices the Christian religion and his ethical background is still unknown at the moment.

Initially, Vince Flynn worked as an account and sales marketing specialist at Kraft Foods. He left Kraft in 1991 to become an aviator in the United States Marine Corps. Additionally, he was medically disqualified from the Marine Aviation Program one week before leaving for Officer Candidate School.

He forced himself into a daily writing and reading routine to overcome the difficulties of dyslexia. Leon Uris, Tom Clancy, Ernest Hemingway, John Irving, Robert Ludlum, J.R.R. Tolkien, and Gore Vidal were among his writing influences.

He took a job as a commercial real estate leasing agent with United Properties in Minnesota’s Twin Cities area and tried to come up with a book idea.

He decided to become a full-time writer after working for United Properties for two years. So he quit his job and relocated to Colorado, where he wrote during the day and bartended at night. Though many questioned his career choices, he remained solid in his convictions and eventually finished his first book, “Term Limits.”

However, it was reportedly rejected by over sixty publishers. In 1998, he self-published “Term Limits,” which quickly went to number one in the Twin Cities area. In one week, the publishing house “Pocket Books” picked it up and signed a two-book deal with him.

“Pocket Books” released a paperback edition of “Term Limits” in the year 1999. And, his second book “Transfer of Power,” introduced the undercover CIA counter-terrorism agent ‘Mitch Rapp’ to readers.

Other books

All of his subsequent novels revolved around this character. With the publication of his third book, “The Third Option,” in 2000, he established himself as a serious political thriller author. In his fourth novel, “Separation of Power,” published in 2001, he used his knowledge of technology and security systems, as well as the expertise of his government sources.

In 2003, he changed publishers to ‘Atria Books,’ and his fifth book, “Executive Power,” was released. “Memorial Day,” his sixth book, was released in 2004. His seventh book, “Consent To Kill,” was published in 2005, and he appeared on the talk show ‘The O’Reilly Factor.’ He was a consultant for the hit television series “24: from 2005 to 2006.

His eighth and ninth books, “Act Of Treason” and “Protect And Defend,” were released in 2006 and 2007, respectively. He signed film and book deals with CBS Corporation units CBS Films and Simon & Schuster/Atria Books in February 2008. Lorenzo di Bonaventura was in talks to produce Mitch Rapp films. “American Assassin,” the first film, was released in 2017.

Four of Flynn’s books have been acquired by ‘Atria Books for worldwide distribution. In August 2010, Flynn signed a two-book deal for a new series that he planned to co-write with retired Army Lieutenant Colonel Brian Haig. He appeared frequently on The Glenn Beck Radio Show on Fox News Channel and Dan Barreiro’s radio show on Twin Cities station KFAN.

In his career, Flynn received several awards and recognitions. He has received awards including the 2013 International Thriller Writers Award for Best Hardcover Novel and the 2010 Military Writers Society of America Book of the Year Award. Similarly, he was also a New York Times #1 Bestselling Author and a frequent commentator on political issues on radio and television.
