Early Life
On the 28th of September 1967, Moon Unit Zappa was born in New York City, the United States of America. She is 55 years old and has a birth sign of Libra. In addition, she belongs to a mixed ethnicity and practices the Christian religion.
She was born to her father Frank Zappa and his second wife Gail Zappa. By profession, her father was a musician, composer, and bandleader. In contrast, her mother was a musician and composer. Zappa’s father had Sicilian, Greek-Arab, and French ancestors, while her mother had German and Portuguese ancestors. She grew up with her three younger siblings: Dweezil, Ahmet, and Diva.

Professional Career
Moon Unit Zappa first appeared on screen when her father, Frank Zappa, decided to cast her in one of his music videos. She appeared in the song ‘Valley Girl’ from her father’s 1982 album “Ship Arriving Too Late to Save a Drowning Witch.” As a result, she became a public figure. The music video was a huge success, reaching number 32 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States.
Zappa appeared in her brother’s debut single, ‘My Mother Is a Space Cadet,’ which she also co-wrote. Soon after, the siblings gained popularity, which led to television offers, and they appeared on MTV several times throughout the 1980s.
She made her television debut in the 1982 crime drama series “CHiPs” playing Tami. The next year, she made her film debut in the horror anthology film “Nightmares” playing the role of Pamela. This movie was directed by, Joseph Sargent.
In the following years, she appeared as a guest actress on TV shows such as “The Facts of Life” (1985), “Student Exchange” (1987), “Curb Your Enthusiasm”(2004), “How I Met Your Mother” (2006), “Grey’s Anatomy” (2010) and “High School USA!” (2013).
Zappa appeared in six episodes of the TV series “Fast Times” as Barbara in 1986, and 13 episodes of the comedy series “Normal Life” as Tess Harlow in 1990. Moreover, she also appeared in supporting roles in films such as “Little Sister”(1992), “Dark Side of Genius” (1994), “Love Always” (1996), “The Girl Gets Moe”(1997), “Behind the Seams” (2000), and “Last Will” (2011).

Relationship Status
Currently, Moon Unit Zappa is a divorced woman and single. In the past, she married Paul Doucette, drummer, and rhythm guitarist for the American pop group Matchbox Twenty, in June 2002. With the marriage, the couple has one child, Mathilda Plum Doucette. However, their marital relationship came to an end in 2014.
Gail Zappa established a trust after Frank Zappa’s death to control the business of Frank Zappa’s merchandise and music. Surprisingly, after Gail Zappa died on October 7, 2015, control of the trust passed to the younger siblings, Ahmet Zappa and Diva Zappa, with each receiving 30% of the shares.
Moon and Dweezil Zappa were each given only 20% of the shares, which shocked both of them. It was also revealed that the two elder siblings would not receive any funds from the trust until it became profitable and that they would need permission from their younger siblings to profit from their father’s legacy.
