Early Life
On February 15, 1967, Jan Hecker was born in Kiel, West Germany. As per the sources, he belonged to the Caucasian ethnicity and is German as per nationality. He has not revealed his parent’s names but, he was a naval officer.
Talking about his education, he attended Flensburg High School and completed it. Later, he enrolled his name at the University of Freiburg and graduated in political science. Moreover, he attended the University of Grenoble and received his master’s degree in Law. Jan also attended the University of Cambridge. He received PhD in law from the University of Gottingen, in 1997.

On August 24, 2021, he was appointed as the 15th German Ambassador to China. He moved to Beijing, China for his duty and followed all COVID-19 protocols. On September 5, 2021, a few weeks after his posting he died. The reason for Jan Hecker’s death is still not revealed yet and is kept under cover.

After completing Jan Hecker’s education, he taught at the European University Viadrina in Frankfurt (Oder), from 2000. He also taught at the Humboldt University Berlin, the University of Applied Sciences for Administration and Justice, and the Free University Berlin.
Moreover, he habilitated at the Viadrina on market-optimizing economic supervision, in 2005. As an adjunct professor of public law and European law, he was appointed by Viadrina, in 2010. Moving on, the law firms Hengeler Mueller and Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, employed him.

Unfortunately, after 2 years, his professional curiosity drew him away. At the end of 1999, he joined the Federal Ministry of the Interior. During his time at the Federal Ministry of the Interior, He was seconded to the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution, during his time at the Federal Ministry of the Interior.
At the Federal Administrative Court in Leipzig, he was appointed as judge, in 2011. In addition, he was brought to Berlin as an advisor to Chancellor Merkel, in 2015. Fortunately, he became a confidant of Merkel, significantly influencing her foreign policy.
At the end of August 2021, he became ambassador to the People’s Republic of China. Merkel’s policy of maintaining a balanced was expected to continue with him. And also a friendly relationship with the People’s Republic of China.
Only a few days after taking office, he passed away even having just completed the mandatory two weeks of COVID-19 quarantine. German foreign minister Heiko Maas stated, “Due to the circumstances of his death, we have no evidence that Hecker’s death is in any way related to his official function as German ambassador in Beijing”.
