After her success on “Swap Shop,” Philbin went on to present other popular TV programs, including “Saturday Superstore” and “Tomorrow’s World.”
In 1979, she joined “Tomorrow’s World,” a program that showcased futuristic inventions and cutting-edge scientific advancements. Her down-to-earth presenting style and enthusiasm for science made her a beloved figure among viewers. She continued to work on the show until it ended in 2003.

She has hosted shows like “QED,” “Bodymatters Roadshow,” and “BBC 1’s Heaven and Earth Show.” In addition, she is also known for her work as a presenter on “Multi-Coloured Swap Shop,” a popular children’s television program in the 1970s.

Further, she and Howard Stableford co-hosted Tomorrow’s World Live: For One Night Only, a 90-minute special edition broadcast on BBC Four on November 22, 2018.
Beyond her television work, Maggie Philbin is involved in various science and technology-related initiatives. Princess Anne presented Philbin with the award for Communication and Outreach at the 2012 WISE Women of Outstanding Achievement Awards in November 2012. The Institution of Engineering Designers gave her the Promotion of Design Award in 2013. In March 2014, Philbin was elected as President of the IED in recognition of her ongoing efforts to support and promote science, technology, and engineering.
On 3 July 2014, Computer Weekly named her the 5th most influential woman in UK IT, and on 3 December 2014, she was named the 23rd most influential person in UK IT. Moreover, she was named the fourth most influential woman in UK IT 2015 by Computer Weekly in 2015.
She was named Digital Leader of the Year at the 2016 Digital Leaders 100 Awards. In June 2016, she was named the most influential woman in UK IT by Computer Weekly. Moreover, she was awarded an honorary doctorate by the University of Huddersfield in July 2016 for her contributions to science broadcasting and technology education. In the 2017 New Year’s Honours list, she was awarded an OBE for services to promoting STEM and creative careers.
