The Chicago Bears selected Leno in the seventh round (246th overall) of the 2014 NFL Draft. Leno, who had served as a backup as a rookie, was introduced as the team’s regular starting left tackle in Week 4 of the 2015 campaign.
Leno extended his contract with the Bears for four years and $38 million on August 23, 2017. He was the first offensive tackle from the Bears to be named to the Pro Bowl since James O. Williams in 2001 when he was selected in 2018.
Moreover, Leno was let go by the Bears on May 3, 2021, after serving as their starting left tackle for seven seasons. Teven Jenkins had been chosen by the team in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft.
On May 15, 2021, Leno agreed to a one-year contract with the Washington Football Team. He made all 17 of his starts for the 2021 campaign, and on January 5, 2022, he agreed to a three-year, $37.5 million contract extension.
