According to the authorities, those leaders and the city encouraged his son to participate in the CHOP protests and to break the law for political reasons.
According to police, Lorenzo visited the CHOP and collided with 18-year-old Marcel Long. They both talked for a while Lorenzo was walking away when Marcel took out a handgun and shot him several times.
But police were unable to enter the protest zone for hours to search for a suspect killing and to do an investigation. Later, Marcel was charged with first-degree murder after a week of shooting but he wasn’t arrested for a year.
Lorenzo was taken to Harborview Medical Center by a volunteer team for treatment but he had multiple gunshot wounds and was declared dead at 2:53 a.m.
