Early Life
Jhon Duran was born on the 13th of December 2003, in Medellin, Colombia. He will be 20 years old on the 13th of December 2023 and holds Colombian nationality. Additionally, he is of Colombian-African descent and his birth name is Jhon Jader Duran Palacio.
He is the son of Regino Duran (father) and Durán Palacio (mother). A professional is a football administrator and once served as the president of a local Colombian football.
Moreover, he grew up with his older brother Oswaldo Durán. His brother is a former Colombian goalkeeper. Being raised in a footballing environment, Jhon was also inspired by his father and his brother.
Talking about his academic career, he might have attended a local high school. Later, he attended a football school named Casa de Paz School. His parents were very supportive of his footballing passion.
Professional Career
Jhon Duran started his professional footballing career with Envigado FC back in 2019. At the age of 15, he made his professional debut for the club on 10 February 2019, with a 1-0 victory against Alianza Petrolera for Primera A. For the club, he played from the year 2019 to 2021. In October 2020, The Guardian named him one of the “60 of the top young talents in International football.”
Chicago Fire technical director, Sebastian Pelzer noticed Duran’s football skills and performance. After that Pelzer immediately signs him and approves a £ 1.5 million deal and transfer. Moreover, Chicago Fire acquired Durán in January 2021 on a contract beginning on 1 January 2022. He made his debut for the club on 26 February 2022 against Inter Miami CF. And, he scored his debut goal for the team on 14 May 2022 against FC Cincinnati.
Premier League club, Aston Villa announced on January 16, 2023, that they had agreed on a deal to sign Durán, subject to medical, and personal terms, and obtaining a work visa. This football player left the Colombian camp for the 2023 South American U-20 Championship to fly to England to complete these. Durán completed his transfer on January 23rd. The reported transfer fee is £14.75 million, with an additional £3.3 million in add-ons. He made his Premier League debut as a late substitute in a 4-2 defeat to Leicester City on February 4, 2023.
International Career
Duran represented the Colombia national under-17 team at the 2019 South American U-17 Championship. On the 24th of September 2022, he made his international debut for Colombia’s senior team against Guatemala, replacing Radamel Falcao as a halftime substitute.
