Early Life
On the 6th of October 1966, in New York City, the United States of America, Jordan Matter came to the world. This man is 58 years old and holds American nationality. Moreover, he has a birth sign of Libra and believes in Christianity. Furthermore, he belongs to the American ethnicity.
Coming toward his parents, he is the son of Alex Matter (father) and Paula Feiten Matter (mother). Professionally, his father is a businessman while his mother is a model. In addition, his grandpa, Herbert Matter, was a professional photographer and graphic designer. His grandpa gained fame for his use of photomontage in commercial art during World War II.
Coming towards his academic qualification, he finished his early schooling at a local high school in New York City, New York, United States. Later, he enrolled at a local private university in New York, the United States from where he completed his further studies.
Professional Career
Initially, Jordan Matter wanted to become an actor and even played baseball during his college days earning fame and fortune. However, he ended up becoming a photographer like his grandfather interestingly. He had the desire to do something deep in photography. According to him, it is an art that should describe more than just objects or faces.
During an exhibit by the iconic French humanist photographer, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Matter found the untold stories and the deeper meaning he sought in the photographs. Due to this, he was deeply moved by the photographs which expressed the stories of humans through poignant images. Similarly, he was profoundly inspired by the work of the photojournalist.

Once, he visited a model friend and saw some of her headshots which didn’t impress him at all. In the photo of his friend, he couldn’t find anything in those photos that described her individuality and found the images to be lacking depth in meaning.
Later on, he took his friend to the roof the next day and took some of her headshots. After taking some headshots of his friend, his friend was very impressed by the photos and she even began recommending Matter to others. Later, his popularity began to rise, and he even began receiving testimonials from modeling agents who began sending their clients to him.
He became an internationally famous photographer. Following it, he went on to be featured in top magazines and was profiled by the media outlets BBC, MSNBC, CBS, and NBC. He also appeared on ‘The Today Show.’ As an author, this man has published numerous popular books containing remarkable stories expressed through the medium of photography.
In October 2012, he rose to fame, after releasing his book “Dancers Among Us.” This book became the New York Times bestseller. Similarly, he followed up the book’s success with another bestseller in 2018, “Born To Dance.”
Social Media Personality
In addition, he was interviewed by Tyra Banks and made an appearance on ‘The Today Show.’ He is also active on YouTube and has a self-titled YouTube channel. Moreover, he began posting dance videos in the early days on his channel. Later on, he started to create long-form YouTube videos featuring his kids doing activities and challenges which took him to another level of stardom.
There are over 14.4 million subscribers on his YouTube channel. Similarly, he has another YouTube channel “@jordanmatterphotochallenges” where he posts a video related to photography challenges. As of January 2023, there are over 421k subscribers in the channel.
He is also active on TikTok with the account name “@realjordanmatter.” In his TikTok videos, he posts videos relating challenges, pranks, POVs, and photography-related content it. As of January 2023, there are over 5 million followers on his TikTok account.

Coming toward his personal life, Jordan Matter married his wife Lauren Boyer. Professionally, his wife is a veterinarian by profession. With the marriage, the couple has two kids whose names are; Salish and Hudson.
